Wildlife is essential for a good farm
Wildlife abundance is a sign of a farm becoming a part of the ecosystems around it and supporting rather than destroying the Earth's biodiversity
At Summer Roads Farm we see an increase of wildlife on land we manage.
-
We can't walk through the land we manage without seeing wildlife.
-
There is diversity of mammals(15+ species), birds (80+species), reptiles(3+species), amphibians(6+species), and insects and bugs (many many species).
-
We participate in monitoring projects to identify and assess wildlife populations on the land we farm.
-
Our soil, water, pasture, and livestock management all create habitat for wildlife to move into and create homes.
To identify a farm that is good for wildlife, walk through it, there should be evidence of wildlife no matter the season.
